In the interview, Governor Sheriff Oborewori gave reasons why Tinubu should be re-elected: that the president has embarked on beneficial reforms, that the president is an in-law to Delta State, that the reforms have brought fat revenue to the State, and as such the president should be re-elected to consolidate the reforms. A perspective of the Governor's answers to the questions from the journalist reveal prejudice, gaffe, fallacy and illogicalities arising from a faulty premise

Oborewori spoke of so much to the State, and he wasn't owing contractors in the State. But it's on record that Desopadec where he hardly sends enough funds is owing contractors to the tune of N6.4bn since November last year after he released N8.4bn, and he failed to clear the balance after seven months, is that not a fallacy?

After the economic reforms have brought severe hardship on the masses, while only the masses are bearing the brunt of the hardship, and the political class are glowing in affluence, you're still clamoring that the the president should be re-elected, what a gaffe. It's unthinkable for a man to clap for the person who's tightening a rope around his neck. Reforms with crushing effects are unacceptable

The Governor went ahead to encourage Deltans to vote for Tinubu because he's our in-law. This argument is not valid, is the voting a family matter? How do we trivialize national issues and become sentimental about them without reasoning whether we are being rational or irrational to the detriment of all.

The removal of subsidy and the sharing of huge allocations have not favored the masses, rather it has impoverished them. The economic situation in the country has worsened yet one is expected to endure and sing praises in spite of the anguish that the reforms have brought but the Government and it's functionary are engaged in wasteful, extravagant spending.

If the harsh economic reforms are to be tolerated, what about the insecurity challenges which have proven to be beyond the capacity of the Tinubu Administration.

The masses are hungry, the masses are not safe, and the masses are not comfortable because of lack of electricity, and yet we're talking about re-electing such a president who appears incapable of good governance or solving the immediate problem like electricity and affordable food.

It's incongruous, illogical and callous of anyone to campaign for the re-election of a president whose reforms have emasculated the people. Governor Sheriff Oborewori is beating his chest for great development without the seaports of Warri, Sapele, Koko functioning, flyovers will not better the lives of the masses who are unemployed, the people are hungry, money is not circulating hence there's so much insecurity, this is in spite of the huge allocation to the State . The volume of funds that has entered Delta State is more than three times what the previous administrations of Delta State had received. Any government that's incapable of transformation within four years has no business seeking re-election.

Praise singers of Governor Sheriff Oborewori ought to tell him to withdraw from the N750bn Delta State funds at CBN to clear DESOPADEC debt to contractors and retirees.
